During the 10th-12th of November 2021, the Young Surveyors Network (YSN), Nigeria Harvest of Ideas (HOI) V Conference was successfully held in Abuja, Nigeria.  As a leader in the Geoinformation industry, Hi-Target is proud to be a sponsor. Noah Olujimi Obafemi, our local sales representative and applications engineer, attended the conference and gave a speech on behalf of Hi-Target at the event.

The theme of the conference was tagged “Inspiring Young Surveyors to Secure the Future”. During this three-day workshop, two presentations were given by Noah Olujimi Obafemi on behalf of Hi-Target. Since it was the first time that we sponsor this conference, Noah firstly introduced the Hi-Target company and its products and services to the audience present. At the same time, Noah also created a synergy between the theme of the YSN Conference “Inspiring Young Surveyors to Secure the Future” and the philosophy of Hi-Target “Surveying the world and Mapping the Future”. He emphasized the possibility to cooperate with Hi-Target as it is our great goal to help surveyors to secure the future with the high-precision surveying and mapping equipment. Like he said, “I believe that Hi-Target will give a boost in the Nigerian geospatial industry”, we also hope Hi-Target can work together with this event to provide young surveying professionals with valuable information and facilitate a platform for discussion and the sharing of ideas. 

Moreover, Noah presented the global correction service – Hi-Target CORS solution. Since this subject had not been delivered by any speakers in the past, the CORS solutions of Hi-Target filled the topics vacancy. Noah shared the technology features of our motherboard, and the comprision with the ones of Trimble and Leica. This presentation caught the attention of almost all attendees and was well disseminated.

The Young Surveyors Network (YSN) was established as a Commission Working Group 1.2 under the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) during her 2006 Congress in Munich, Germany, but upgraded to Young Surveyors Network in Eilat, Israel in 2009 with the mission of facilitating an international network of young surveyors by providing a forum for sharing knowledge, skills, and experiences. It’s an international organization among persons of the following categories in the surveying profession:

-Aged 35 years and below,

-Students of Surveying and all related studies, Young Surveying Professionals (YSP),

-Young Professionals of Surveying and all related studies within 10 years of graduation from a Bachelor or Master’s degree.

About HARVEST OF IDEAS (HOI)

The YSN Nigeria Harvest of Ideas is an Annual conference/Training workshop created in 2015. The wondrous thing about HOI is the multidimensional perspective the guest speakers, training officers, sponsored partners and members bring to the discussions. Since the inception of the YSN Nigeria, Young Surveyors have continued to assert their relevance and taken responsibility to make a positive contribution to the growth and development of the profession. The usual way is to hold conferences, seminars, training workshops and research. It aims to become a valuable support to the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS) and Surveyors Council of Nigeria (SURCON) and ensure the advancement and sustainability of the profession at all levels.
