From June 23rd to June 29th in Wuhan, China, IGSS welcomes young GeoInformatics scholars from around the globe to partake in an academically rich summer session. Eminent lecturers will mingle with the brightest young minds to discuss and explore groundbreaking ideas in the field of GeoInformatics.

Featured Activities

Excellent Presentation Award

Participants will finish and present course projects at the end of the course. The presentations will be evaluated, and one excellent project will be selected from each course and be presented again during the Closing Ceremony. Each member of the excellent project group will be awarded an excellent participant certificate.

Culture Exchange Activities

IGSS is a great platform for everyone to introduce, share, and exchange cultures. Students will have chances to learn about Chinese culture and introduce their own cultures through icebreaking activities, museum/campus visit, parties, etc.

No study fees. Some students will be selected to receive travel grants. Participants also have a chance to obtain Excellent Presentation Award.

About LIESMARS

LIESMARS is the State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping, and Remote Sensing. It is a global research center in the field of geospatial information science. And LIESMARS is the main geospatial research center at Wuhan University. Wuhan University LIESMARS is the first state key laboratory in the field of surveying and mapping in China. In 1989, the laboratory began construction. Based on the National Key Disciplines of Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Geodetic of Wuhan Technology University of Surveying and Mapping. And then in 1991, the laboratory became one of the seven tracking demonstration laboratories of the World Bank in China. Later in 1992, the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping launched an open research fund. Therefore, the laboratory officially opened to the outside world. While In 1995, the laboratory passed the joint inspection. And it was the State Education Commission, the State Planning Commission, and the State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping to organize the inspection. Moreover, in 2004, the laboratory received the title of “Advanced Collective‘’ and won the “Golden Bull Award” at the awarding ceremony for the 20th anniversary of the construction of the State Key Laboratory. And the Ministry of Science and Technology and other ministries and commissions were the organizers of the anniversary. Equally important, LIESMARS was continuously ranked “Excellent” in 2000, 2005, 2010, and 2015 in evaluations of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
